Description: Deputy Sheriff Pelino was shot multiple times with his own gun while processing a suspect for booking at the Gorman station. Deputy Pelino served as the resident deputy at the Gorman station and lived next door with his family. Deputy Pelino's spouse, Patricia, ran to the substation when she heard the shots. Mrs. Pelino, unarmed, jailed the suspect and called for help. The suspect pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter with the use of a firearm and was sentenced to five years in prison.
