Description: Officer Perez and his partner were conducting a drug surveillance stakeout on the West Side of Chicago when Officer Perez was struck by a Metra commuter train. Officer Perez and his partner had climbed up a steep embankment to get a better view of the drug activity near 21st and Spaulding Streets. Officer Perez and his partner cleared the train track before the train passed, but the engine of the train created a vacuum and sucked Officer Perez under the train. Officer Perez's partner jumped to safety.
