Description: Detention Service Officer Pace suffered a heart attack during a fire drill training exercise at the Decker Detention Center. Officer Pace was on duty guarding inmates when a fire drill training exercise was initiated. Officer Pace put on a fire protection jacket and an air pack with a face mask. Officer Pack was running up a flight of stairs when he collapsed. Officer Pace was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
