Description: Corporal Paul and Patrolman Ernest Moore were shot after they set up a roadblock to capture a gang of robbers. When Corporal Paul told the occupants to step out of the sedan, the woman came around from the passenger side and fired shots at both officers. Corporal Paul was transported to the hospital where he died. Patrolman Moore recovered from his wounds. On January 13, 1930, the suspects were stopped by Deputy Joseph Chapman in Florence, Arizona and kidnapped him. They were involved in a gun battle with law enforcement officers who were trying to free Deputy Chapman. Deputy Chapman and Deputy Lee Wright were wounded, but the trio suspects escaped. Deputy Wright died from injuries suffered in the incident several weeks later on January 29th. The suspects were apprehended and executed in the electric chair.
