Description: Officer Powell was killed after his cruiser was struck by the suspect's vehicle during a pursuit. The officers had officially called off the pursuit when the suspect turned off his headlights, turned around and drove head-on into Officer Powell's cruiser. It took emergency workers more than an hour to free the officer from the damaged cruiser. He was airlifted to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
