Description: Burglary in progress or pursuing burglary suspects. Carl Petersen was the night watchman in the City of Westhope, North Dakota. He came upon a burglary in progress at a hardware store. Four individuals were stealing weapons and knives; the lookout for the group fired at Petersen, from a weapon stolen from the hardware showcase. The bullet struck Petersen in the femoral artery and he bled to death.
