Description: Special Officer Patterson was accidentally shot as he was in pursuit of a hobo who had boarded the Santa Fe train at Prescott, Arizona. As Officer Patterson was in pursuit of the suspect, his service weapon fell from its holster and discharged, striking him in the stomach. Officer Patterson died of his injuries the next day.
