Description: Sheriff Palmer was shot while responding to backup other deputies who were attempting to serve mental commitment papers. When Sheriff Palmer arrived at the residence, the man came out of the home with a 12 gauge shotgun. As Sheriff Palmer attempted to calm the man, he shot the Sheriff in the head, killing him. The other officers returned fire and killed the suspect.
