Description: Detective Phelps was shot as he searched for a weapon used in a shooting the previous day. As Detective Phelps and his partner conducted the search for the gun, they instead discovered a marijuana field in a densely wooded area. The suspect fired at the officers, striking Detective Phelps. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder. Officer Phelps left behind a wife and two children.
