Description: Officer Peterson was fatally injured in an automobile accident while responding to a domestic call in a local neighborhood. While responding with emergency equipment activated, Officer Peterson took evasive action to miss a dog that ran into the street. His patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. As a result of the accident, Officer Peterson received a crushed chest and a torn aorta. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
