Description: Patrolman Piller and Mayor George Harroff were injured in a motorcycle crash on Route 14. The department motorcycle had been rebuilt and Patrolman Piller was taking it for a test drive when it malfunctioned and crashed into a ditch. Patrolman Piller was transported to the hospital where he died of a fractured skull. Mayor Harroff survived.
