Description: Deputy Prouty was shot in the abdomen as he escorted two suspects to jail. After Deputy Prouty had arrested two stabbing suspects, several men came from a nearby house and liberated the two suspects. One of suspects then shot and mortally wounded Deputy Prouty. Deputy Prouty died of his injuries seven weeks later.
