Description: Detective Parkhouse, while on patrol in the Elmira train yards, came across two bottles of whiskey hidden in a bunk car. As Detective Parkhouse was confiscating the bottles, the owner of the liquor, a railroad employee, drew his weapon and fired. Detective Parkhouse was struck twice in the abdomen but was able to return fire and wound his attacker. Detective Parkhouse died the following day from his injuries.
