Description: Police Officers Peitsch and John Schultz were shot and killed as they attempted to investigate a gang of robbery suspects. While investigating seven robberies that had occurred within three hours in the residential district of St. Paul, the officers observed a suspicious vehicle that fit the description of the vehicle used in the robberies. As Officer Peitsch approached the vehicle, he was fatally shot multiple times. Officer Schultz was also shot and killed as he exited the patrol car. Both officers were shot again in the head at point-blank range and the suspects fled the scene. Four suspects pled guilty to the multiple robberies and received a combined sentence of 4000 years in prison.
