Description: Retired Chief of Police Proffitt was shot and killed in an act of retaliation by a suspect who Chief Proffitt arrested multiple times over the past 50 years. Chief Proffitt was retrieving his mail from his driveway when he was accosted and gunned down by the suspect. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement officers. Upon the suspect's arrest, law enforcement officers discovered two original citations on the suspect which were issued by Chief Proffitt regarding his prior arrests.
