Description: Special Officer Pipes was accidentally shot by fellow officers who thought that the men running toward a set of gates were the leaders of the labor strike at the rail yard in Houston, TX. Officer Pipes and fellow officers were actually escorting a group of strikebreakers from the train to the depot. Officer Pipes was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Special Officers S. Crockett, Gordon Knight and Captain H. Sisk were also shot but survived. Friendly fire.
