Description: Customs Inspector Plunkett was killed while on board the steamship Resolute in the San Francisco harbor. Inspector Plunkett was standing next to the captain when the steamer accidentally crashed into another boat. The bowsprit struck Inspector Plunkett and drove him through the wall. Inspector Plunkett died at the scene.
