Description: Police Officer Purdon died in a fire as he attempted a rescue people in a burning building. An explosion destroyed a photograph supply store and caused a fire in the apartments above. Officer Purdon was found on the third floor where he had collapsed due to suffocation. Officer John Hepp and five firefighters were also injured but survived.
