Description: Deputy Marshal Pemberton was shot and killed while trying to arrest a suspect who had assaulted a marshal. Marshal Pemberton went with a posse to arrest the suspect when they were met by a group of men intent on preventing the arrest. A gunbattle ensued and Marshal Pemberton was killed. The marshal that had been assaulted was also wounded in the battle but survived.
