Description: Sheriff Peper was killed in an automobile accident near Lebanon, Indiana. Sheriff Peper and Deputy Harry Slagle were en route to investigate another accident when their patrol car skidded off the highway and rolled over several times. Sheriff Peper was thrown into the back seat and broke his neck. Deputy Slagle, the driver, was not seriously injured. Sleet-covered pavement was the cause of this accident.
