Description: Trooper Poynter was struck and killed while investigating a multi-car traffic accident south of Houston, in Texas County. Trooper Kelly and another civilian were hit while on the shoulder of Highway 63. The driver of the vehicle that struck Trooper Poynter was intoxicated and driving at a high rate of speed. She was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
