Description: A hurricane struck Port Arthur and Port Aransas on the Texas Gulf Coast. Officer Prater drowned as he and fellow officers attempted to rescue several citizens from the hurricane's deadly attack. Officer Prater's body was recovered and buried in a mass grave with other citizens who lost their lives that day.
