Description: Deputy Marshal Prickett was shot and killed while trying to serve an arrest warrant. Deputy Marshal Prickett and a fellow marshal tracked down a man fitting the description of the suspect they were looking for, but the man gave an alias and produced a special deputy marshal commission. The two deputies stepped outside the suspect's home to discuss the matter and when they reentered Deputy Marshal Prickett was shot and killed by the suspect. The other deputy marshal struggled with the suspect and was stabbed several times. The suspect and another man fled the scene and were arrested the following month.
