Description: Officer Pavelka responded to a call to back-up his partner, Officer Gregory Campbell, during a routine traffic stop. As the officers communicated with the dispatcher, the suspects exited their vehicle and opened fire on both officers. Officer Pavelka and Officer Campbell, although wounded, were able to return fire and kill one of the suspects. Both officers were transported to a local hospital where Officer Pavelka succumbed to his injuries.
