Description: Constable Pickens was shot and killed by a fellow deputy while pursing a traffic violator. The suspect was being pursued by county law enforcement officers when he crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. Constable Pickens, who was working an off-duty security job authorized by the department and in plainclothes, witnessed the suspect crash his vehicle and run from the scene. As Constable Pickens pursued the suspect, he was shot four times by fellow deputies who mistakenly thought he was the suspect. Friendly fire.
