Description: Officer Perea and his fellow officers attempted to apprehend a man who had invaded a private home, murdered two children and was holding the remaining occupants hostage. When the lawmen arrived, the suspect fled the residence and barricaded himself in an outhouse behind the property. The suspect fired several shots, killing Agent Juan Garcia. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect several times. Officer Perea was shot and killed as he used his flashlight to pinpoint the suspect. Dynamite was placed under the building and the suspect was bombed dead from his hiding place.
