Description: Deputy Sheriff Palmer died while at home after he completed his shift. Deputy Palmer had assisted in the search to find a lost hunter. The Elk River region had already experienced a foot of snow and it was still snowing as the deputies conducted the search by vehicle and on foot. The search began at 8:00 p.m. and ended at 12:30 a.m. when the hunter was rescued. Deputy Palmer went home and was found unresponsive by his wife later that morning, still in uniform.
