Description: Officer Pino was killed when a suspect driving under the influence struck his patrol car. Officer Pino had stopped a truck along Hwy 395, which is a winding mountain road through the Sierra Nevada. While sitting in his patrol car writing the citation, the driver of a SUV veered into the shoulder and struck Officer Pino's patrol car. The impact forced the patrol car under the flatbed trailer of the truck. Officer Pino died while being transported via helicopter to a local hospital.
