Description: Deputy Sheriff Porter was shot in an exchange of gunfire as he attempted to keep order at a dance. Deputy Porter was attacked by two suspects and shot in the stomach. Deputy Porter returned fire and killed one suspect and wounded the second. Deputy Porter died of his injuries the next day.
