Description: Officer Porter, along with fellow Officer Kyle Smith-Bey, were off-duty when they stopped briefly at a tavern to drop off an item. Officer Smith-Bey got in a verbal confrontation with several bar patrons whom he had previously arrested. After the two officers drove away, the three suspects from the bar followed them. In an act of revenge, they drove up on the passenger side of the car and fired into the vehicle killing Officer Porter. This murder was an apparent act of retaliation by the assailants directed at Officer Smith-Bey because of a previous arrest of one of the suspects by the officer. Officer Porter apparently was an innocent victim of this act of revenge.
