Description: Sergeant Prunty was shot and killed while performing a routine check of a local convenience store. Sergeant Prunty was standing in the parking lot of the store, next to his patrol vehicle, when a car drove by and opened fire. Sergeant Prunty was struck by several rounds and was able to return fire. Sergeant Prunty was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect was later apprehended.
