Description: Sergeant Popolizio died from injuries sustained while pursuing a suspect who was fleeing from police officers. The suspect was originally arrested for drag racing until the officers saw him throw a firearm into the bushes. After the suspect was arrested and placed into a patrol unit, he slipped out of his handcuffs and stole the police car. During the ensuing chase, Officer Popolizio was killed in the single-car accident when he lost control of his police unit and rolled over several times.
