Description: Officer Patterson warned a resident not to play with the officer's dog, as it might bite. The man responded by cursing at the officer, who threatened to arrest the man. Later that day, they encountered each other again and another quarrel ensued at which point Patterson attempted to place the suspect under arrest. The suspect handed Officer Patterson $5.00 for his appearance bond, then pulled a revolver and shot Patterson four times in the chest, killing him instantly.
