Description: Detective Potienko was killed in an automobile accident on Broadway near Lackawana Street, in Cheektowaga, New York. Detective Potienko was struck by a tractor-trailer causing his patrol vehicle to rotate into oncoming traffic. Detective Potienko was killed instantly when the impact forced his body struck a utility pole. Detective Potienko was transported to Erie County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
