Description: On June 9, 1953, Officer Pfalmer was shot while in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Officer Pfalmer was shot in the arm as he approached the vehicle. An exchange of gunfire ensued and Officer Pfalmer was struck in the spine, leaving him permanently paralyzed. Officer Pfalmer never returned to work. Officer Pfalmer succumbed to his injuries on December 26, 1970. The death certificate states the cause of death as sepsis, which is an infection of the blood.
