Description: Sheriff Pascoe was shot as he and Constable Richards attempted to arrest a tramp wanted for shooting a train brakeman. Sheriff Pascoe was shot at point-blank range in the chest and died at the scene. The suspect was arrested but was convicted of another murder and executed by hanging. Sheriff Pascoe's Deputy, David Douglass, succeeded him as Sheriff and also died in the line of duty on July 26, 1896.
