Description: Deputy Pettit and her partner were ambushed and shot by her estranged husband while on duty. Deputy Pettit and her partner were on their way to serve an order of protective custody when Deputy Pettit's estranged husband shot them both with an AK-47 assault rifle. Deputy Pettit was shot multiple times and died at the scene. Her partner was shot ten times and miraculously survived the shooting.
