Description: On October 18, 1941, Patrolman Quarles was kicked in the stomach and chest by a suspect. Patrolman Quarles and a second officer responded to a disturbance call regarding a fight and were attacked as they attempted to arrest the suspect. Patrolman Quarles died after abdominal surgery on January 10, 1943.
