Description: Corrections Officer Reister was working at a department-sanctioned job as a door identification checker at an establishment when he was assaulted by an intoxicated patron. Officer Reister ordered the man to stop dancing on the table. The man jumped off the table and onto Officer Reister, knocking him to the floor. The man then grabbed Officer Reister around the neck and choked him until he was unconscious, then continued choking him some more. Officer Reister sustained irreversible brain damage and died of his injuries two days later. His assailant was arrested and charged with murder.
