Description: Officer Ramey was killed when his cruiser was intentionally struck by a vehicle that was being pursued by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. State troopers had begun pursuing the suspect's vehicle when he was clocked at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. According to the highway patrol report, the suspect crossed the centerline towards Officer Ramey's cruiser and accelerated. Officer Ramey and the suspect were killed instantly.
