Description: Deputy Sheriff Rakes was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop. Deputy Rakes observed a vehicle at a standstill in the roadway and stopped to provide assistance. As Deputy Rakes approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly pulled a gun and shot him. Deputy Rakes was transported to a hospital where he died during surgery. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement officers.
