Description: Captain Reed was shot and killed in a shootout with a man wanted for murdering two elderly women in Hernando County. Captain Reed and fellow deputies spotted the suspect?s vehicle and initiated the pursuit. The suspect pulled into a gas station, exited his vehicle and opened fire on the deputies. Captain Reed was shot in the exchange of gunfire and transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
