Description: Chief Ritsch was escorting a drunken man to jail to when the man reached inside his coat pocket and fired his gun, striking Chief Ritsch. The Chief fell, but not before returning fire. The man fled but was caught. Chief Ritsch died en route to the hospital. His assailant was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 99 years in jail.
