Description: Deputy Ricks was killed in an automobile accident while transporting a juvenile prisoner from Garden City, Kansas to Liberal, Kansas. While en route, Deputy Ricks' department vehicle struck the back of another vehicle that suddenly stopped in the roadway. Deputy Ricks and the juvenile prisoner were killed upon impact.
