Description: Trooper Rantanen was killed in an automobile accident when a fleeing vehicle forced his patrol car off the road and into a ditch. Trooper Rantanen was pronounced dead at the hospital. His partner was hospitalized for six months but survived. The driver of the stolen car was convicted sentenced to 4-15 years for involuntary manslaughter.
