Description: Chief Richards was killed in a single-car automobile accident on US-190. Two suspects who failed to stop for a traffic violation were being pursued by officers from two jurisdictions. As he attempted to join the pursuit, Chief Richards lost control of his department vehicle and crashed. The suspects were caught after their vehicle crashed in the same vicinity of Chief Richards' accident. Chief Richards was pronounced dead at the scene.
