Description: Detective Robertson was shot while searching a car for a robbery suspect. Two gunmen had robbed the Hahn's shoe store in Silver Spring. A patrol unit stopped the vehicle and escorted the driver and getaway car back to the station. Detective Robertson, who had completed his shift for the day, was suspicious that the second robber may be hiding in the car and began removing the rear seat cushions. The suspect shot Detective Robertson twice then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. Detective Robertson died two hours later at the hospital.
