Description: Police Officer Russell was struck by a fleeing vehicle as he responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked on Horn Road in Rancho Cordova. When officers arrived on the scene, the DUI suspect driver sped off, tossing items from the vehicle. Officers pursued the suspect vehicle. Officer Russell was struck by the suspect's vehicle as he deployed spike sticks. Officer Russell was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
