Description: Sergeant Romans was shot and killed while participating in a SWAT mission to break into an apartment in which a suspect had barricaded himself. The suspect had earlier shot and killed Sergeant Mark Dunakin and Officer John Hege during a traffic stop and then fled to the apartment. Officers tried to negotiate with the suspect, but the attempt failed and the SWAT team was called. Sergeant Romans and Sergeant Daniel Sakai were shot by the suspect during the SWAT operation. The suspect was killed when officers returned fire.
