Description: Constable Rodgers was ambushed by four men whom he had arrested for operating an illegal liquor business. Constable Rodgers was shot in the back but was able to return fire, seriously wounding one of the suspects. As the suspects fled, he crawled to the nearby home of the Justice of the Peace. Constable Rodgers was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries five days later.
